Food & Body Image

One of my specialties and passion areas is working with folks who struggle with their relationships with food and/or their bodies. This can look like a range of experiences—from diagnosable eating disorders (particularly anorexia and bulimia), to disordered eating patterns, to simply feeling like food and body thoughts take up more space than you’d like.

Fit for Virtual Work

Because I work in a virtual, outpatient setting, clients must be medically stable. This typically means being weight-stable or weight-restored, with consistent, stable vitals. If you’re unsure, a primary care provider can help assess this.

I also have experience working at higher levels of care (IOP and PHP), so I’m familiar with the broader treatment landscape and can help you navigate next steps if you need more support at any point.

My Approach

My work is grounded in a Health at Every Size (HAES) and food & body liberation framework. I tend to understand eating disorder behaviors as coping mechanisms—often deeply adaptive ones, and often shaped by both personal experience and larger systems.

Diet culture is pervasive; it’s the water we’re swimming in. Because of that, our work often includes exploring:

  • what you’ve learned about food, bodies, and worth

  • how those messages may have served you

  • how they may also be causing harm

  • what you might want to move toward instead

This process is often less about “fixing behaviors” and more about understanding, unlearning, and gently rebuilding your relationship with food and your body. It can involve a kind of belief deconstruction, as well as learning to tolerate the discomfort that comes with shifting long-held patterns.

Collaboration & Fit

Because I take a depth-oriented and systems-informed approach, I may not be the best fit for clients seeking a highly structured, primarily behavioral model of treatment. That said, I’m always happy to collaborate—whether that’s problem-solving around day-to-day challenges or working alongside a dietitian or other providers to support your care.

I’m also connected with a network of HAES-informed dietitians and can offer referrals if additional nutritional support would be helpful.
